RIVERFRONT CABINS ON THE KENAI

Marlow's on the Kenai is four riverfront cabins on two private acres of the middle Kenai River in Sterling, Alaska. Every cabin sits within steps of the water. Bald eagles work the bank. Moose wander through the spruce. The current is always within earshot.

A Kenai river cabin is a different kind of stay. You wake up to the river instead of a parking lot. You watch sockeye push through your stretch of water during morning coffee. You walk twenty steps from the front door to a private fishing dock and start your day.

With a maximum of 14 guests at a time, the property never feels crowded — and the river out front is yours to fish on your schedule. Pair a cabin with a guided Kenai fishing charter and you've got the kind of trip serious anglers come back for year after year.

RIVERFRONT LODGE NEAR SOLDOTNA

The lodge address is 36370 Stephens Dr, Sterling, AK 99672 — on the middle Kenai River, arguably the best stretch on the entire peninsula.

Sterling is roughly 15 minutes from downtown Soldotna and 30 minutes from Kenai, so you've got groceries, restaurants, tackle shops, and gas stations within an easy drive when you need them — but you're tucked away in spruce forest on the river when you don't. From Anchorage, the drive is about 3 hours south on the Seward and Sterling Highways — one of the most scenic routes in North America.

For a deeper look at how Sterling stacks up against other Kenai Peninsula bases, see our guides to Soldotna-area fishing lodges and Kenai Peninsula fishing lodges.

PAIR YOUR CABIN WITH GUIDED FISHING

A riverfront cabin is the foundation. The fishing is what turns it into a trip.

Most of our guests pair their cabin stay with one or more guided trips: Kenai River charters for salmon and trout, ocean halibut charters out of Homer or Ninilchik, or fly-out adventures to remote Alaska waters. All gear is included — rods, reels, tackle, and waders.

For the full experience, our Bucket List Package bundles a 5-day, 6-night cabin stay with two guided river days, a fly-out, and an ocean charter. See all options on the fishing packages page.

RIVERFRONT CABIN FAQ

HOW MANY RIVERFRONT CABINS DOES MARLOW'S ON THE KENAI HAVE? +

Four cabins, all on the Kenai River. One sleeps up to 6 guests and three sleep up to 4 guests, for a maximum lodge capacity of 18. We typically host no more than 14 guests at a time so the property never feels crowded.

DO ALL THE CABINS HAVE DIRECT RIVER ACCESS? +

Yes. Every cabin has a path down to the riverbank and access to private fishing docks shared by lodge guests. There is no driving to a public boat launch — you walk out the door and you're fishing.

ARE THE CABINS FULLY SELF-CONTAINED? +

Each cabin has a full kitchen with stove, oven, fridge, cookware, and dishes, plus a private bathroom. The property includes an on-site fish cleaning station, outdoor grill, and fire pit. You can cook your catch the same day you land it.

CAN WE RENT THE WHOLE LODGE FOR A PRIVATE GROUP? +

Yes. Full-property rentals are available for family reunions, corporate retreats, fishing groups, and bachelor parties. You get exclusive access to all four cabins, the fire pit, the fish cleaning station, and the docks. Reach out for full-property pricing and availability.

WHERE EXACTLY ARE THE CABINS LOCATED ON THE KENAI RIVER? +

The lodge sits on two private acres at 36370 Stephens Dr in Sterling, Alaska — directly on the middle Kenai River. It's roughly 15 minutes from Soldotna, 30 minutes from Kenai, and about 3 hours south of Anchorage via the Seward and Sterling Highways.

WHAT'S THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A RIVERFRONT CABIN? +

Prime salmon season (June through September) books up first, and many guests reserve a year ahead. Sockeye peak weeks in July and the September trout window are the highest-demand dates. Off-season stays in May and early October are quieter and easier to book on shorter notice.
